Ever since Google Photos removed its free storage tier, I have seen my google drive storage usage balloon. I had an old laptop laying around and decided to put it to use. This is immich, a self-hosted photo storage system, ingesting 39000 of mine and my family’s photos. I have it running in a mirrored ZFS pool - which means I get some redundancy for my data. And I can finally free up some storage on my google drive.

If anyone is interested I’d be happy to share my self-hosting progress.
